The Problem

The absence of structural bumper plates posed significant safety concerns, leaving the rail system vulnerable to collisions and jeopardizing passenger and infrastructure safety in the event of accidents.

Navigational Challenges

Passengers lacked access to vital information due to the absence of map cases, resulting in confusion and difficulties in navigating the complex rail network.

Emergency Response Inefficiencies

The absence of intercom boxes and fire extinguisher cases hindered passengers’ ability to communicate during emergencies and respond effectively to fire-related incidents, potentially putting lives at risk.

Uncomfortable Passenger Experience: The absence of station furnishings, including benches and walkway plates, made waiting for trains uncomfortable, and navigating stations challenging for passengers.

Thanks to the project and to the brilliant team at ASM, the LAX transit corridor can now offer commuters a better experience. 

1. Safety Enhancement: The project significantly enhanced passenger safety by installing structural bumper plates, reducing collision risks, and safeguarding the rail system.

2. Improved Passenger Experience: The introduction of map cases, station furnishings, benches, walkway plates, and trash receptacles helped to create a more comfortable, accessible, and hygienic passenger experience.

3. Security Measures: Bollards were implemented to enhance station security. This will prevent unauthorized vehicle access and ensuring the safety of passengers and infrastructure.

4. Emergency Preparedness: Intercom boxes and fire extinguisher cases were installed to enable effective communication during emergencies and provide immediate access to essential firefighting equipment.
